Here is another project from Christine Nasser's 'Illustration for License' course. The purpose of this project was to design a pattern to be printed on a lamp while drawing influence from a chosen season of the year and anything that it evokes. I chose to base my pattern around Summer travel, or more specifically, Summer travel in Southern California. This was an experiment in stylization as well, an attempt to channel some mid-century methods of illustration, and I am very pleased with my results.
My design was sent away to be printed on a lampshade and returned within a few weeks, so as to partially emulate the experience of licensing artwork to a home decor company.
