When Nelson Mandela, anti-apartheid revolutionary died, the South African people lost their father. All the governments around the world sent messages of condolences to say they realized that nothing in life prepares us for losing someone we love.
My home country, Iran, decided to publish a book about people who participated in Mandela's funeral to show Iranian feelings about this issue.
As a graphic designer of this project, I thought it would be appropriate to take his portrait and merge it to the branches of a tree and add two birds as a sign of freedom.
At the beginning, I was simply supposed to layout a book and design its cover, but as the project went on, the client (The Iranian embassy in South Africa) asked for a stamp and some magazines ads, which were published in South Africa and Iran.
