Description
Toy vehicle designs for retail sale.
  • Spin Master Toys
    Metal Maxx Light FX
  • "Metal Maxx" was a brand name for Spin Master the encompassed a number of vehicle lines. These vehicles were created for a new line called "Light FX." Light FX were scaled vehicles with transparent parts that would allow light to shine through those parts when a secret switch was activated. This concept was used on both a motorcycle line and a car and truck line of toys.
  • The first 4 drawings were for the motorcycles, a Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, and a Kawasaki. These were based upon specific actual vehicles and needed to be completely accurate in detail.
  • A basic exploded view for one of the bikes used in conjunction with a parts list and the layout drawing to determine the product cost of a unit. The parts list would also define materials.
  • A "see through" view confirming the relationship of the different components of the bike to ensure all parts were properly aligned.
  • Due to the tight schedule that is often related to a toy line, different concepts were explored in side view so that it could be translated directly into the layout drawing. This type of series was done for all of the car and truck styles.
  • The lower body style had been chosen from the first round of drawings, but Spin Master wanted more wing styles to be explored.
  • Custom body elements were designed for every vehicle. Even wheels and tire treads were specified for each style.
